What Really Happens When You Sleep?
Much has been written and said about things that occur during sleep. Medical science can monitor activities like respiration, brain waves, and organ function. Yet, some things cannot be measured like that. It is the human mind. There is still little known about sleep and the mind. There is still much to explore. Many things may still be theory.
When you sleep, does your consciousness actually leave your body and travel elsewhere? It certainly goes somewhere. Is the human mind existent in many layers? Perhaps it can be compared to computers, shells and laptop computer skins. Does this seem a bit out there? Perhaps, but it may explain a few things.
Many people experience the feeling of leaving their bodies during sleep periods. This occurs with a great deal of frequency. It cannot be mass hysteria or illusion. This is also true of the near death experience. Does it point to the validity of the soul? Is it a tangible thing? Is it nebulous and hard to fathom? It is not something that you can suck up into a handheld vacuum. Yet, it may exist in another dimension.
There is much going on in the world around you that you are unaware of. There are tiny creatures living their entire lives out on your skin. There are living things in the air that you breathe, also. You cannot see nor feel them, yet you accept their existence. Why is it difficult to understand leaving the physical body?
Suppose you leave you body at night. What does that mean? It may mean that there is more to you than you once thought. It may point the way to the other side of death's doorway. This is an age old question that everyone continually ponders. It is the reason for the extreme power of world religions throughout history.

Suppose you leave your body when you fall asleep. What is it that leaves? What part of you stays behind? Maybe this should be studied more in depth. It may bring on a better comprehension of waking hours. What happens when you die? Everyone wants to know. Why don't they seek the answers in tangible things? It might never be completely understood, until it is properly investigated.
Conclusion
When you fall asleep, what happens to your consciousness? If you leave your body, what leaves? What is it that stays? How many layers exist to the human psyche? Is it similar to the laptop, outer shell and a notebook skin? No one may ever know the answers. This may call for a better understanding of the human mind and sleep. It may lead to a better understanding of life and death. This could bring comfort to many.
