Better Sleep With Blackout Blinds

Sunshine is great but there are times you don’t want to see it especially when you or your little ones need to go to sleep. Sunlight and sleeping are often a bad combination for many people.

There are a lucky few who are able to close their eyes and drift off whenever they need to which is a real blessing. But for others the slightest hint of light means their mind stays alert and they can’t fall asleep very easily. Anyone who works nightshifts will be well aware of the problem as they try and fall asleep with the light seeping through their curtains.

If you have a baby or young children they often need to sleep during the day. Unless you’re blessed with a sleepy baby, then getting them settled when they can see things around them to distract them can be a problem. It’s also a problem for older children in the summer when you need to put them to bed when there’s still daylight around.

That’s where blackout blinds come in as by using them you can get to sleep at any time of the day. The dense material will block out the sunlight and create the ideal conditions for sleep. Depending on how the blinds are fitted you can have a darkened room where there’s still a little trickle of light around the blackout blind. This is what most people go for as it’s dark enough to sleep but there’s just enough light to stop it feeling slightly intimidating.

Others like total darkness, in which case the sides of the blackout blinds will need to be encased in a runner to stop light seepage. That way you can have all the darkness you could want.

Thick curtains may help keep out a lot of the sunlight but blackout blinds are more effective and easy to use. So if the sun is keeping you or your little ones awake you could have blind fitted in only 30 minutes.
